AQUARIA KLCC is owned and managed by Aquawalk Sdn. Bhd. a joint-venture company between New Zealand and Malaysian investors.
The company was incorporated in October 2002 by Terry O'Boyle, the Managing Director of Aquawalk. Terry is an accomplished international businessman, with more than 25 years of experience in Asia and North America.
In 1998, Terry founded Aquawalk International Limited to develop, operate and own world-class aquariums and spin-off businesses in Asia, the United States and Europe.
After Aquawalk successfully secured approvals to build AQUARIA KLCC at the new Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, things shifted into high gear in 2004 when two key events occurred.
The first was Aquawalk's success in securing a RM50 million term loan from Malaysia Debt Ventures (MDV) Berhad, which accelerated the development and construction of the aquarium.
